How much does it cost to make a claim?
It costs nothing, claims are dealt with on a no-win, no-fee basis.
How far back can you claim?
Any contract signed in the last 6 years from date of claim.
What if my Broker has gone into administration?
It does not matter the, claim will be brought against the energy provider.
How long does it take to settle a claim?
Its difficult to be exact but we are estimating between 12 and 18 months.
What are the solicitor fees?
The solicitor we refer you to will advise but should be between 25% to 35% of claim value.
To what extent have brokers been mis-selling?
Whilst we don’t have exact figures, it is widely believed that mis-selling was rife in the industry.
Were all brokers mis-selling?
No, many brokers were transparent with costs and worked in an ethical way.
What will happen with current contracts?
The terms can be subject to changes, which are made in your favour. For example, the broker may adjust their commissions to provide you with a lower rate, or they may offer to cancel the contract altogether. Nothing would be changed without your permission.
What if I can’t find my contracts?
Contact your current/previous suppliers and request copies of your contracts – they are legally obliged to hold this data for 6 years. It will usually take a maximum of 5 working days for them to email the documents to you.
In general suppliers are not very helpful as they now know what’s coming. If suppliers cannot provide this information, this is an ICO breach and you can either make an official complaint or request a call recording of your conversation, if it was agreed over the phone.
Do you need to provide ID and personal details?
No, not to HITBACK but will need to supply direct to solicitor.
Why do we need copies of bills?
This helps us calculate the claim value as accurately as possible.
How do Hitback get paid?
We get paid by the solicitor from their fees, on a successful claim and an upfront referral fee.
